real life stories. real life feelings.

Thank you for checking out my site! My passion for mental health stems from battling the demons in my own mind for most of my life. In January 2020, I started using past experiences to compose poems to describe depression and anxiety to others. Now, I seek to connect with others on a deep, emotional level in everything I create.

Enjoy exploring my development as an artist and as a writer. Peace, love, and blessings to you

Several of my poems use language that contains potential triggers. If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, please know you are loved and contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

Follow the Growing Up Depressed Facebook page to discover the deeper meanings behind the poems and in-depth analysis of the book.

"A raw depiction of what it's like to fight depression and anxiety."

"Poetry that's unapologetically true, relatable, and honest."

"Mackenzie's poetry wastes no time getting straight to the point. The up-front style she uses to detail the journey through her darkest experiences evokes disturbingly intense emotions while reading."

A description of what the voices in a depressed mind are actually saying. This piece is a collaboration with Jess Davis, a licensed social worker in an adult community mental health center.
